What is A Bug’s Life?
Insects play an important role in nature. There are well over 1 million different known species of insects in the world and some experts estimate that there might be as many as 10 million. Each kid will be given a net, containers and list of insect groups. They will get a chance to catch, identify and classify the insects in 12 main groups (orders) before releasing them back into the wild. In this programme, kids will learn interesting facts about insects and why they have a vital role in our lives.
What is River Scientist?
Our planet is 75% covered by water and that’s why we’re called the Blue Planet. But 97.5% of that water is salt water. We only have 2.5% of fresh water to drink. This programme is aimed at introducing kids to freshwater ecosystems and to educate them on the conservation of fresh water resources. Each kid will be given a water monitoring kit and they be asked to examined the river’s water quality with the guidance of facilitator. Additionally, they will be catching aquatic organisms (aquatic insects, fish, tadpole, etc) and identifying them as bio-indicators. They will be learning about water conservation, water cycles and be a river scientist for a day!
